have you heard of figue (pronounced “fig”)? i had not until a couple of months ago and, now, i am just shy of obsessed. the brand has been popping up in vogue, bazaar, wwd, and instyle, just name a few, and the clothes are totally sick. you get the feeling that just by owning a few pieces from figue, you will instantly become a cooler person. so, i had to check it out for us.
turns out figue is by designer stephanie von watzdorf, who has quite the pedigree – including a stint at yves saint laurent, working with giorgio armani and ralph lauren, and, finally, seven years at tory burch, where she is credited with turning the brand from over-wrought prep to global traveller. figue describes itself as:
defined by a global gypsy-meets-jet-set spirit—bringing together the urban energy of Paris and London with the natural beauty of the Mediterranean. . . . Figue’s core items consist of tunics, kaftans, shirtings, dresses, denim and accessories in colorful, global-inspired prints. . . . a seasonless brand for women who travel—or dream of traveling—to exotic destinations and who enjoy a lifestyle that is every bit as luxurious as it is bohemian.
the price point is definitely not in zara or mango but think of these pieces as warm weather classics that will stay with you year after year and lend you the air of the über-hip and chic-boho chick that you are (and we all have that in us somewhere, don’t we?). also, you are in luck! if you subscribe to figue’s newsletter, you will get a code for $50 off your first purchase of $350 and many of the summer pieces are on sale right now for 30% off. . .
