i am not exactly sure when I fell for daria werbowy, but, somehow, without my realizing it, she got a strangle-hold on me and just won’t let go. it’s not that she is beautiful. maybe she is. i am not sure if i know whether she is or isn’t. it is that she is enchanting. . . her look inviting . . . and somehow, to me, she represents the average woman at her best. i do not suggest that she is average looking, is average weight or to imply she is average height, etc. but just that she has an ordinary-ness, turned good, that completely captivates me. i find myself studying the ads she is in trying to put my finger on what it is that is just so beguiling. i kind of get a feeling that i do not feel when i flip through ads in a magazine – like maybe this look is attainable or not so far out of reach. . . .
maybe it is simply that she has captured the imagination of all my favorite brands so there is a predisposition going on . . . or maybe the reverse is true . . . i have fallen for these brands because they gave chosen daria to carry the flag for their brand???
daria headlines the wsj fall fashion edition which hits the stands later this week, on august 16. the feature, styled by alistair mckimm and shot by photographer josh olins, does not disappoint and there is an article on daria, herself, if you are interested. here, i have hooked you up with some of the best from the wsj feature as well as some of my favorite ads featuring daria from the past couple of seasons. enjoy!
