summer beauty: the japanese scalp brush | bonus: resort report

i feel my summer hair sitch coming on . . .  like when i move a little piece of hair out of my face or tuck it behind my ear and it feels all crunchy????  from the pool to the drenching sweat that is summer outdoor activity in the south to washing the hair way too often to the hair dryer to the curling iron to crunch. . .  that is where you’ll find me . . .

until now!!  OMG . . . this thing is amazing.  the japanese figured out a decade ago that the world could really use a better brush and got on it.  the s-heart-s scalp brush (whatevs on the name) puts all it’s energy into the scalp which, it turns out, yields dividends all the way down to the tips.  so, it massages your scalp, stimulating circulation while gently eliminating build-up left behind by shampoo and other “product.” (because it has been 10 years since i even considered using the plural of that word when talking hair). the increased circulation and distribution of oils helps make your hair shinier and feel fuller.  and all around awesome.   (check out the you tube vids here).

srsly, a hair mask and the scalp brush are a 1, 2 punch for summer hair.  i am partial to the kerastase chroma captive hair mask. . . but probably any hair mask plus the scalp brush gives the tko.

and don’t be thinking you’re just going to go buy a japanese scalp brush just like that . . . they are just about sold out here in the states (it’s the “latest hair essential” in france these days). . . if you really want one right now, you have to buy the mini (get it here).

resort report . . .

the row

mary kate and ash picked up a cfda womenswear designer award for the second time in three years last weekend.  it’s pretty clear they are ones to watch . . . they have a well-defined point of view that is influencing fashion with clean and simple lines, balancing structure and fluidity in their extraordinarily lux collections of wardrobe workhorses.  their resort collection is no exception, demonstrating again why they are at the top of the game right now . . .

gucci

the new creative director at gucci, alessandro michéle, is staying retro and dares you to say something about it. . . srsly, he is staring fashion dead in the eye and not blinking. . . people may be thinking they are done with retro . . . gucci says not so fast. . .gucci-resort-2016-stylebriefs
