5 Minute Fix – #NYFW

Who can handle a full dose of Fashion Week?  Really, who?  Not me.  And, I totally love fashion.  But, I always need a moment.  I mean, sometimes I am pretty sure that shoulder pads and peg-leg, high-waisted pants are a bad idea.  Or, like, sailor suits literally straight out of L’il Rascals are never going to work.  But, I don’t know, sometimes I need to minute to think.  And I can’t do that when there is way too much fash coming at me at one time.

But times like this call for fearless fashion bloggers to persevere in the name of service.  To push harder.  To last longer.

I am pleased to announce that . . . I have the total fashion week hook up in a sweet scroll of 5 minutes or less!!!! I spent the weekend filtering through 7 million runway, backstage and front row picts to bring you ONLY the best of the best moments from Fashion Week.

And, while I am sure many trends will jump out of me at a later date, suffice it to say you will probably want to invest in a long tank dress, don’t put away your culottes, kimono tops, or your off-the-shoulder anything just yet, and buy something red or aqua.  Oh, and buy some lace-up espadrilles or platform sandals.

And, you are welcome!  Happy Tuesday!!

Favorite look . . .

Altuzarra.  This is totally sick.  Joseph Altuzarra always hits a homerun.  BTWs, the midi and espadrilles are solid investments for spring.

Aqua . . .

Chloé Malle on the streets

Monique Lhuillier (Are you not dying?  Gorge.)

Rosie Assoulin.  Regardless of what you think of her stuff (it’s a little “editorial” for me), Rosie is an extraordinarily strong force in fashion these days.  Her ideas are molding those of all around her.  You can thank her for the off-the-shoulder current trend.  And culottes.  And volume.  So, there’s that.  And aqua and green really is a fab color combo.

Red . . .

Michael Kors.  He always brings his A-game.  This look is perfection from head to toe, as were just about everyone of the 60-some looks he sent down the runway.  And, I am still in love with this shoe.  You will recall it from the Céline Fall 2014 runway.  It adds a cool girl edge while being extremely practical/comfortable.

Ohne Titel hooking into both the off-the-shoulder trend and red.

Veronica Beard.  Always one of my favorites.  They also got the memo on red and off-the-shoulder.

Jason Wu.  Ladylike perfection.

Button-downs . . .

Michael Kors.  This may be my favorite look from his show.  Love this yellow suede and the lines on the classic white button down.

Button-downs were a strong choice on the streets.

And, if you can pair your button down with a pair of Levi’s, even better.

While Phil Oh’s eyes were clearly on the gal sporting some Rosie Assoulin volume, all I can see is the cool chick rocking the button-down, un-hemmed Levi’s and divine red suede mules.

Tank dress . . .

Proenza Schouler.  This is THE silhouette for Spring.  To be honest, Phoebe Philo at Céline started this trend with the Spring 2015 collection. (Compare.).

Rag and Bone.  Look familiar?

Rag and Bone

Victoria Beckham.  Spotting the trend?

Kendall Jenner walking the Michael Kors show.  So, I think we can safely draw this conclusion.  We’re all buying a tank dress come spring, right?

Kimono . . .

Milly.  The kimono silhouette is honestly one of my all times faves.  Mainly because I find it so figure flattering.  Glad to know it is still a strong call for spring.

Assembly.  Admit it.  If she took off the socks, you would actually like this look.  It was strong for Spring and Fall 2015 and it remains a strong call.

Beauty . . .

I am totally digging the fresh-faced and side-swept hair look at Kors.

Shoes . . .

Michael Kors.  This shoe is back.  (Check my post last Fall here).  It looks great with a midi and a tank dress.  This is on the top of my list for Spring.

Oscar de la Renta.  Classic lace-up espadrilles.  Peter Copping sent all the day frocks down the runway in these.  While they have been around forever, the look is fresh and new for Spring.

’90s is now . . .

Calvin Klein.  Are you totally getting a Carolyn Bessette Kennedy/Ashley Judd/Courtney Love vibe off of this?  Me too.

Show stoppers. . .

Carolina Herrera.  Her entire collection in sheer organza and blush silk was exceptional and swoon worthy.

Oscar de la Renta.  This is the dress and the show that everyone is talking about.  Peter Copping recently took over after Oscar’s passing and everyone was wondering whether anyone could carry on his legacy of lady-like perfection.  I think we have our answer.  This show is not to be missed.  The girls are gorgeous and styled from another era.  Amazing.

Great recap. I’ve been telling everyone that the tank dress will be huge for spring. I feel like spring 16 will be more casual – Peter Copping sent girls down the ODLR runway in espadrilles!
And speaking of shoes, I can’t help looking at all the blisters on the models’ feet in your shoe pictures. No one said fashion week isn’t painless…

tell us what you think!!!
