Aspirations not resolutions

So this past week I’ve been reflecting on the resolutions I made this year but the problem is that I found myself getting depressed on all the “resolutions” that I failed to meet. So I started thinking, instead of making resolutions I would make “aspirations”.

as·pi·ra·tion:
ˌaspəˈrāSH(ə)n/
noun
a hope or ambition of achieving something.
Ok think about it. Instead of  “resolving” to eat more vegetables, and then getting mad at yourself when you eat that cheeseburger, “aspire” to eat one vegetable a day. A resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something which in my opinion automatically sets you up for failure.  An aspiration is something you can continue to strive for with the hope that you will succeed. Here’s the other thing, be kind to yourself. We are not going to bat 100% every day but as long as you continue to aspire for what you want and be ok if you don’t hit it out of the park that day, you are doing just fine. Tomorrow is a new day!
Happy New Years. Stylebriefs has had a great 2015 and we will continue to aspire to make 2016 even better.
