Last week Caroline told us about her favorite pair of shoes, the Stan Smiths; see here. I’ve tried them and they just don’t work for me. I hate it because I really want them to. I want to be like those cool models who can rock their Stan Smiths and leather pants. Caroline looks great in her Stans. After wearing heels all day any excuse to wear tennis shoes without breaking some fashion rule is news to my ear. I just don’t think I’m cool enough for the Stan Smiths. So where does this lead me?
After fretting about it, I decided I needed to look to my shoes I wear every day to exercise and see if that could provide some inspiration. Now those who know me know that I’m not going to wear my exercise shoes outside of exercise. (See here to see why). But I do like the shoe so I’ve turned to New Balance for JCrew. I’ve been thinking why I’m drawn to these and I’ve come up with a few answers. First, I need a little lift. The Stans are flat which I think gives the perception of my legs looking dumpy. Now that is all in my head but the New Balance just seems to suit my body type better. Second, I like having a variety of colors. Now, y’all are going to think this is weird but after my last blog post when I asked if you tinkle, I don’t think anything would surprise you. I like having a fall shoe and a summer shoe. I love that the New Balance for JCrew comes in colors ranging from gray and navy to lavender and pale pink. Finally, I love to exercise and I feel like with the New Balance shoes I can burst into a run if I feel like it without full out dressing for exercise.
So there we have it, chocolate and vanilla; choices for everybody.
