Track Star

Guess what is a really big thing this Spring??  Track pants.  Hold up, hold up, hold up. . . don’t peace out on me until you have heard me out.  I can feel your eyes rolling even as I right this, but just hang with me for just a second. . . Last September during the Spring 2016 shows, Claire Waight Keller sent five or six different looks down the runway at Chloé that included extremely chic track pants — that’s right, track pants with the stripes down the side — and then Alessandro Michele sent a sweet pair of embroidered bell track pants down the runway at Gucci.  Then, Tory Burch included two different types of track pants in her Fall 2016 show last month.  And, now, open any fash mag […]

The Really Good Get: A Fab Dress for Spring

Toward the end of last summer, I began to notice these incredibly chic dresses with tie waists and embroidered bell-sleeves.  The dresses were an undoubtedly literal interpretation of the traditional Ukranian dress, but somehow now made extraordinary through an infusion of a hip bohemian edge.  First in the Instagram feed of Amanda Brooks (a harbinger for sure) and then on Leandra Medine’s blog,  Then Amy Astley followed suit and then several fashionistas those whose names are well-known and other faces I don’t recognize except to note that they, too, are early adopters.  And, then, Mark D. Sikes did a post. I did some investigation when I first spotted Amanda in hers and determined the dresses were by Vita Kin, a native Ukranian, through her line of traditional Ukranian clothing, Vyshyvanka.  (Find […]

Top Fashion Moments of 2015

When I look back on it, 2015 seems like a watershed year in fashion, though I am not sure I appreciated the magnitude as it was unfolding.  By year-end, we saw our outlook on shoes, jeans, sunglasses, and decade-focus had shifted.  Pretty seismic changes on the Richter scale of fashion.   And I wonder what that reflects in our culture, generally.  Or is it just that, in the digital age, fashion flies as swiftly as the zeros and ones that carry it into and out of the smartphones we hold?  We shall see. . . In any event, I have enjoyed a look back with an eye toward what really moved the needle of fashion.  But tell me, what did I miss??? xo, cg   Year in Review: Top Fashion Moments of 2015  Chloé’s Fall […]

Want to know the Sunday Punch TKO for Fall?  Wait for it. . . .  OTKs.  That’s right.  Over-the-knee boots. Back it up.  WTF?  How is the normal girl supposed to bust out some OTKs for just the average day?  Simple. These babies are perfection with every dress or skirt you own for Fall that is just above the knee or with your skinny jeans and a fab coat. And, so how/why are they a TKO?  So, what happens is that when you wear them with all your fall/winter dresses that hit just above the top of the boots, the OTKs really become this magic shoe/boot/legging thing that creates a lean line straight from the ankle to the hem-line.  And, voila:  legs for days.  Plus, they are comfortable and keep you warm in the winter. Detail of Runway Chloé long, black, drapey neck tie scarf

Did you know that “snatched” is the new “it” word?  I know.  Me either.   And, it’s not “snatch” as in “to take away abruptly” as in “Lou, don’t snatch your brother’s iPad!” It’s “snatched” as in amazing or awesome, as in “that Chloé bag in your giveaway is totally snatched!!!” So, want to know what is totally #snatched for Fall (besides our giveaway)???  Long, narrow, tie-style scarves. Think I am kidding?  I have been trying to do a post on this for weeks.  Weeks.  And, do you want to know why I couldn’t post???  The ties keep selling out almost immediately so I can’t give you a link.  (Find a link here).  No lie.  By Fall, you will not be able to find a single one of these long skinny ties lying […]

ladies of luxembourg gardens | #fdf: tory’s hip pad in paris

after being at the playground at luxembourg gardens in paris for less than 30 minutes, my son declared, unsolicited, that “paris is better than disney world!!!!”  booyah!!  oh, yea!  oh, yea!!  score two points for outdoor activities and non-tech entertainment!!!  too bad we had to travel half a world away to get there. but, luxembourg gardens were better than disney world for me, too. because, honestly, my first thought is not to throw on my new chloé frock to take the kids to play on a tuesday afternoon.  i think i was maybe more blown away by the ladies of luxembourg than any other venue in paris.  ooh-la-la! la-la! la-la!!   so very stylish. . . i hooked you up with a few photos below so you can feel their beat. xo, cg   […]
