Splurge or Save

I’ve really wanted to make this a regular post for a while. Y’all know from last week’s post that I splurged on this Frame blazer which meant other items in my cart had to go back. But luckily my research has found some very good items that look like a “splurge”. All of my “save” items in the picture came from Banana Republic and in fact if you read my Frame post then you know my lesser cost leopard blazer came from Banana Republic as well. This outfit with a few tweaks can take you from day to night. During the day, carry a larger handbag with a small hoop earring and in the evening add a statement earring and may be a red lipstick. Find links to all these pieces […]

Pleat away

I just returned from NYC where we went to the US Open. Such a fun time! Even better, it was actually cool ( I mean long sleeves at night cool) which got me in the Fall Into Fashion mode. When not at the Open we traversed the streets of New York looking for those fall looks. Today’s look comes courtsey of the pleated skirt. I’ve been hesitant about this one since I’ve felt that pleats can make me look hippy but I’m going to change my mindset. But again it comes down to proportions. I found this silver pleated skirt at Zara that I plan on pairing with my JCrew cashmere shell in black and strappy sandals in red from Pedro Garcia. Pair the outfit with a long statement earrings like these […]

Opposing Forces: Must v. Lust

So this time next week, I will be on Spring Break with family and friends and looking forward to a much needed get away. I’m starting my packing list which always means a few new purchases. But I know it can be an expensive time of year so here are a few ideas which can go from must to lust depending on what your budget allows. I also love mixing up high end and lower end items. It’s more fun that way. I’m a big fan of a lightweight scarf for Spring. You can wrap it around your neck or your shoulders to add a little more layer. I found this one from Banana Republic or if you can this light weight cashmere scarf from Rag and Bone is a beautiful color […]

stick a pin in it

With a husband that is 6’2″ I like my heels tall. Plus there is something about practicing law that I just feel a little bit more in control when I’m wearing high heels and towering over the men. As the weather turns a little cooler it is time to take a look at what boots I need this fall to help round out my wardrobe and I’ve decided I need these boots by Sam Edelman (1), a stick pin high heel that will look great with pants or pair with a dark tight and wear with a pencil skirt or midi skirt. Who is going to mess with me when they see walking down the street  wearing these killer heels? The point (no pun intended) is the boot with the pin-thin stiletto is […]

you just have to have it

as i said before this time of year is hard. you’re kind of tired of your summer clothes but the first hint of fall is coming in. but seriously who wants to buy a truly fall piece when it’s 100 degrees outside so the goal is transition pieces. the jcrew catalog came in the mail this week and this dress called my name. i love dresses, especially for work. it is one piece dressing. when you are running late but you still look together, a dress is the answer. plus you can throw a blazer over your dress or a sweater and voila you got some other looks. i used to shy away from prints; a solid dress is just easy and plus i thought if i wore a print everyone would […]
