Opposing Forces: Must v. Lust

So this time next week, I will be on Spring Break with family and friends and looking forward to a much needed get away. I’m starting my packing list which always means a few new purchases. But I know it can be an expensive time of year so here are a few ideas which can go from must to lust depending on what your budget allows. I also love mixing up high end and lower end items. It’s more fun that way. I’m a big fan of a lightweight scarf for Spring. You can wrap it around your neck or your shoulders to add a little more layer. I found this one from Banana Republic or if you can this light weight cashmere scarf from Rag and Bone is a beautiful color […]

Crop dusting

Denim seems to be getting shorter and shorter this Spring. I like the cropped jean. I wear mine all year long with boots and sandals. In fact, I wear mine so much that my family warns me that they may just hop off and walk away themselves. But this Spring, the cropped is flared not skinny and there are a few rules to remember. First, right above the ankle is the best length; it is the skinniest part of the leg and any higher it is just going to cut you off making your leg look wider. Second, this is not the time to see how many holes you can put into your jeans while still being able to go outside without being ticketed for indecency. A little distressing at the bottom […]

Rain rain rain

We had one of the wettest Halloweens ever. It didn’t stop the kids from trick or treating and when the kids came to my house they got lucky because I wasn’t going to stand outside in the rain handing out candy for long so I dumped it. What I wish I had though was some good rain boots. I know there are the classic Hunters. They are a great pair of boots and have withstood the test of time but what are other options? I found a few: Loeffler Rain Boots; I love the buckle detail and could wear these even when it is not raining. Burberry Reston Fringe Rain Boots; fringe is in and one that will brighten up the gloomiest of days Rag and Bone Rain Boots; how about this […]

i’m saving up for this

every fall there is one piece that i swoon over but the price point is outside my budget so i have to save up. even though the wait is tortuous, the piece means that much more to me when i’ve finally saved enough money to make the purchase. i carry myself taller knowing that i worked hard to finally pull the trigger. ┬áthis season it is the rag and bone leather skirt. aline leather skirt with paneling detail and raw edge hem detail and it is soft as butter. i picture wearing it with heels and a simple blouse to work and then switching it up for night with a sequin top and a pair of booties. because it is so lightweight i can carry this piece into winter with a pair […]
